THE STORY BEHIND THE PRINT...

My second in a series of 'Limited Edition' prints, I wanted to create a collection of images in a delicate blue colour palette based on a luxurious Chinoiserie style. Each print is hand painted with gold ink as a final finishing touch. As a ‘generic' Asian design, I have included imagery from several countries including Singapore, China, Japan, India, Hong Kong and Bali. These are all places I have lived in or travelled to and provide a constant source of inspiration for my artwork.

Continuing on from the first limited edition print, Chinoiserie in Neutrals, I created a silk "window frame" for the images to sit within inspired by the ornate wooden screen in my old studio. I really enjoyed painting the two main feature panels and the individual design elements. These include the main 'Chinoiserie" botanical wallpaper and the birds, gold fish and butterflies in gold inks. The print is complex and highly detailed and I have featured many curated pieces, accumulated and collected over several years which make up it’s story. I love the old Chinese packaging label from an embroidered box which is faded and worn showing it's history, the vivid teal hand painted tea set, the vintage Indian sari fabrics and the pieces of porcelain bought at the floating water markets in China.

FINISH & CERTIFICATION:

Printed onto 310gsm Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper, this print is signed, numbered and stamped with a Louise Hill Design ‘blind embossing stamp’ on the front. Each print also includes a 'Certificate of Authenticity' sticker sealed with my gold foil logo, embossed stamp, signature and edition number for attaching to the back of the print once framed.

FRAME COLOUR:

We suggest framing in our ‘Champagne’ coloured frame which has been especially chosen to match the delicate golds and silver colours within the design. Please see our info on framing here.

WALL HANGING INFO:

AS THIS IS A LARGE PIECE, IT COMES WITH TWO HOOKS IN PLACE ON THE BACK OF THE FRAMED PRINT AND SHOULD BE HUNG ON TWO SCREWS IN THE WALL, ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT CORNERS.  PLEASE ASK A HANDYMAN OR A LOCAL FRAMER TO HANG THE PIECE FOR YOU.
